Academic Coaching — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy

Individual coaching

Academic Coaching

Own your study direction. Build a realistic way forward.

For adults in higher education and other adult learning contexts who want to clarify their goals, organise their study commitments and take their own next steps.

For adult learners entering or returning to higher education, navigating an academic transition or looking for a more deliberate approach to independent study.

Where the work can focus

Choose the priorities that fit your situation. These are possible areas of work, not a fixed programme.

Study direction

Explore why a study path matters to you and what you need to understand before deciding whether to continue or change direction.

Independently owned goals

Separate your own intentions from external expectations and define a meaningful goal you can take responsibility for.

Realistic study planning

Map commitments, deadlines and constraints; choose manageable next actions and revise estimates after experience.

Academic transitions

Reflect on the expectations and routines involved in entering, returning to or moving within higher education.

Presentations and participation

Prepare the structure of a presentation, rehearse how to explain your thinking and choose how you want to participate.

Help-seeking and review

Identify the question you need answered, the appropriate academic support contact and a way to review your next step.

Make reflection tangible

Examples of goals and working documents you might develop together. They are starting points, not promised deliverables or guaranteed outcomes.

A study direction reflection

Record your reasons for a study choice, unanswered questions and a next conversation with the appropriate academic contact.

A realistic study commitment map

Bring deadlines and other commitments together, identify a conflict and propose an adjustment within your control.

A presentation-and-support note

Outline your own message, rehearse an opening and prepare a question to ask a tutor or academic support service.

A process that adapts to you

Revisit these stages as your situation changes; they are not a fixed sequence of sessions.

  1. Clarify the situation

Name the decision or challenge, what matters to you, and the constraints you need to respect.

  2. Agree the focus

Choose a client-owned goal, useful signs of progress and the engagement boundaries.

  3. Explore and act

Question assumptions, rehearse a conversation or choose a practical action to try in your context.

  4. Review and adapt

Discuss what happened, revise the working approach, and decide whether to continue, refocus or close.

Agree the engagement before starting

Your decisions, your follow-through

Coaching uses questions, reflection, rehearsal and review to support your own choices. You retain responsibility for decisions and actions. Goals and useful signs of progress are agreed together; outcomes are never guaranteed.

Choose the right kind of support

This is coaching for adult learners’ choices and study practices, not subject tutoring, assignment writing, assessment marking or admissions advice that promises acceptance. You produce and own your academic work and follow your institution’s requirements. The service is not clinical support and does not promise grades, admission or academic success.

Questions before you start

Will the coach teach my subject or write assignments?

No. You remain the author of your work. Subject explanations, assignment requirements and academic feedback belong with the appropriate teaching or academic support service.

Can I use coaching when returning to study as an adult?

Yes. You can explore your reasons for returning, realistic commitments, changed expectations and the support questions you want to raise.

Can we work on a presentation?

Yes. Coaching can support structure, rehearsal and how you want to communicate. You remain responsible for subject accuracy and your institution’s assessment requirements.

What if the main issue needs another kind of support?

Clarify the scope before starting and revisit it if needed. Subject, admissions, accessibility or clinical questions should be directed to an appropriate service; coaching does not replace that support.

DISC Profiling — Live Training — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy · Course

DISC ProfilingUnderstand tendencies. Keep people beyond labels.Live Training

Explore DISC through one day of learning: five hours of theory, fictional workplace cases, guided conversations and facilitated feedback.

Learn the generic DISC behavioural framework as a language for discussing work preferences and adapting communication. Here, profiling means exploring the framework, not administering an assessment or assigning a personal profile.

Who it is for

For professionals, managers, entrepreneurs and adult learners who collaborate with colleagues or clients. No prior DISC knowledge is required. Work from fictional cases; personal reflection is optional and private, with no required label or disclosure.

Learning outcomes

Describe without labelling

Practise distinguishing observable behaviour from a style hypothesis, and check preferences through neutral questions.

Try a respectful adjustment

Rehearse changes in pace, detail and wording on fictional cases, then revise a response using feedback.

Agree a team next step

Practise a disagreement conversation and build a small communication action with a clear follow-up.

Eight connected topics

The framework and its limits

Introduce DISC as a simplified framework for discussing behavioural tendencies, not a complete account of a person. This course does not measure personality, ability or competence, diagnose anyone or support job-selection decisions.

D and I tendencies

D — Dominance: directness, challenge and a focus on results. I — Influence: enthusiasm, social interaction and persuasion. Discuss these as possible tendencies, not evidence of leadership ability, popularity or anyone’s value.

S and C tendencies

S — Steadiness: patience, cooperation, support and a preference for predictability. C — Conscientiousness: attention to accuracy, quality, detail and analysis. Neither implies weakness, resistance to all change or superior competence.

Blends, context and different versions

People can show several tendencies, and behaviour needs to be understood in its context, role and situation. Avoid fixed identities or a hierarchy of styles. DISC versions differ in names, instruments and reports; the generic terms here do not imply a particular branded tool.

Observe behaviour, check interpretations

Separate what was said or done from a guess about motives or style. Compare alternative explanations and ask neutral questions about preferences. A single behaviour is not enough to assign someone a profile.

Adapt communication respectfully

Consider pace, amount of detail, tone and opportunities for discussion. Offer a concise summary, supporting evidence or more thinking time when useful; ask what helps rather than assuming a preference from a label. Adaptation is mutual, not manipulation.

Teamwork and disagreement

Use different working preferences as starting points for dialogue about handovers, decisions and disagreements. Clarify the shared task, hear concerns and agree responsibilities without assigning jobs by style or excusing disrespectful behaviour.

A practical next step

Identify a small communication adjustment, how to check whether it helps and when to revise it. Keep reflection voluntary and avoid recording colleagues’ supposed types. Learning the framework does not qualify a participant to administer an assessment.

Both formats cover the same eight theoretical topics. Live training adds guided application and feedback; self-paced learning offers recorded theory, worked examples and a knowledge quiz only.

How you learn

Short explanations cover all eight topics, followed by six activities using original fictional cases rather than questionnaire items. Pairs or small groups rotate speaking and observing roles. The indicative sequence totals 300 learning minutes, including activities and debriefs; breaks are additional. Personal reflection remains optional and private.

Framework and boundaries — 40 min

Topic 1: introduce the framework and its limits. Use activity 1 to distinguish a discussion aid from a judgement about a person, then debrief.

Four tendencies — 55 min

Topics 2–3: compare D, I, S and C using brief fictional behaviours. Run activity 2 and discuss plausible alternative interpretations.

Blends and observation — 45 min

Topics 4–5: consider context, different versions and observation versus inference. Use activity 3 to rewrite assumptions as neutral questions.

Respectful adaptation — 55 min

Topic 6: compare pace, detail and tone. Run activity 4 in pairs, exchange feedback and repeat a selected passage.

Teamwork and disagreement — 60 min

Topic 7: clarify a shared task and explore differing preferences. Run activity 5 in trios and debrief the agreed next step.

Action and review — 45 min

Topic 8: run activity 6, review a fictional action plan and revisit the framework’s limits. Allow optional private reflection without disclosure.

Six practical activities

1 · Framework or judgement?

Sort original statements about a fictional project meeting into observations, interpretations and unsupported judgements. Explain why a style word does not establish ability.

2 · Four lenses on a case

Compare four fictional responses to a deadline: asking for an outcome, inviting ideas, checking support and requesting evidence. Discuss possible D, I, S or C tendencies without deciding anyone’s type.

3 · From label to question

A fictional colleague asks for a written brief. List contextual explanations, replace a label with a factual observation and formulate a neutral preference question.

4 · Adapt, ask, revise

In pairs, explain a fictional schedule change. The partner requests a concise overview, detail or thinking time. Adjust the message, ask whether it helps and repeat after feedback.

5 · A disagreement without types

In trios, role-play a fictional handover disagreement with an observer. Explore concerns, agree a task and deadline, and debrief clarity and respect rather than assigning profiles.

6 · One adjustment, one check

Draft a communication action for a fictional team: what changes, who checks it and when it is reviewed. Peers test its clarity. Any reflection on personal habits stays optional and private.

Delivery and duration

One day with five learning hours, in person or live online. Both options cover the same theory and six guided activities. Six blocks total 300 learning minutes; breaks are outside that total. Online pairs and small groups use the same fictional case tasks.

Review and feedback

Facilitated feedback addresses observable communication choices: neutral questions, clarity, respectful adaptation and workable next steps. Participants can retry selected passages. It is developmental feedback, not a scored DISC profile or a measurement of personality or competence.

Another way to learn

Prefer independent theory study?

DISC Profiling — Self-Paced Course

Proposed format: two hours of recorded theory on the same eight topics, worked examples and additional quiz time. No facilitated practice or individual facilitator feedback.

Explore the self-paced course

Questions before you start

Will I receive a personal DISC profile?

No licensed questionnaire, personal report or assessment access is included or promised. The course teaches the generic framework through fictional cases and does not assign personal scores or styles.

Do I have to share a type or personal experience?

No. Activities use fictional behaviours. Any personal reflection is optional and private; no participant must adopt a label or disclose personal information.

Is this practitioner certification?

No. This is not official practitioner certification or qualification to administer an assessment, and it is not presented as a licensed or branded DISC programme.

Profiling DISC — Formation en direct — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy · Cours

I — Influence : enthousiasme, interactions sociales et persuasion.

ميول D و I
