Academic Coaching — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy

Individual coaching

Academic Coaching

Own your study direction. Build a realistic way forward.

For adults in higher education and other adult learning contexts who want to clarify their goals, organise their study commitments and take their own next steps.

For adult learners entering or returning to higher education, navigating an academic transition or looking for a more deliberate approach to independent study.

Where the work can focus

Choose the priorities that fit your situation. These are possible areas of work, not a fixed programme.

Study direction

Explore why a study path matters to you and what you need to understand before deciding whether to continue or change direction.

Independently owned goals

Separate your own intentions from external expectations and define a meaningful goal you can take responsibility for.

Realistic study planning

Map commitments, deadlines and constraints; choose manageable next actions and revise estimates after experience.

Academic transitions

Reflect on the expectations and routines involved in entering, returning to or moving within higher education.

Presentations and participation

Prepare the structure of a presentation, rehearse how to explain your thinking and choose how you want to participate.

Help-seeking and review

Identify the question you need answered, the appropriate academic support contact and a way to review your next step.

Make reflection tangible

Examples of goals and working documents you might develop together. They are starting points, not promised deliverables or guaranteed outcomes.

A study direction reflection

Record your reasons for a study choice, unanswered questions and a next conversation with the appropriate academic contact.

A realistic study commitment map

Bring deadlines and other commitments together, identify a conflict and propose an adjustment within your control.

A presentation-and-support note

Outline your own message, rehearse an opening and prepare a question to ask a tutor or academic support service.

A process that adapts to you

Revisit these stages as your situation changes; they are not a fixed sequence of sessions.

  1. Clarify the situation

Name the decision or challenge, what matters to you, and the constraints you need to respect.

  2. Agree the focus

Choose a client-owned goal, useful signs of progress and the engagement boundaries.

  3. Explore and act

Question assumptions, rehearse a conversation or choose a practical action to try in your context.

  4. Review and adapt

Discuss what happened, revise the working approach, and decide whether to continue, refocus or close.

Agree the engagement before starting

Your decisions, your follow-through

Coaching uses questions, reflection, rehearsal and review to support your own choices. You retain responsibility for decisions and actions. Goals and useful signs of progress are agreed together; outcomes are never guaranteed.

Choose the right kind of support

This is coaching for adult learners’ choices and study practices, not subject tutoring, assignment writing, assessment marking or admissions advice that promises acceptance. You produce and own your academic work and follow your institution’s requirements. The service is not clinical support and does not promise grades, admission or academic success.

Questions before you start

Will the coach teach my subject or write assignments?

No. You remain the author of your work. Subject explanations, assignment requirements and academic feedback belong with the appropriate teaching or academic support service.

Can I use coaching when returning to study as an adult?

Yes. You can explore your reasons for returning, realistic commitments, changed expectations and the support questions you want to raise.

Can we work on a presentation?

Yes. Coaching can support structure, rehearsal and how you want to communicate. You remain responsible for subject accuracy and your institution’s assessment requirements.

What if the main issue needs another kind of support?

Clarify the scope before starting and revisit it if needed. Subject, admissions, accessibility or clinical questions should be directed to an appropriate service; coaching does not replace that support.

Market ResearchBetter questions before business decisions.Live Training

One day, five learning hours: draft a market-research approach through six guided activities, a fictional mobile bicycle-repair case and facilitated feedback.

Learn to frame a market question, choose appropriate research methods and distinguish useful evidence from assumptions. This is a practical course about researching a market, not an actual market report. Classroom examples do not validate demand or guarantee commercial success.

People leaning across a small table in a face-to-face discussion at an indoor meeting booth.

Who it is for

For aspiring entrepreneurs and project holders exploring an offer before committing to it. No research background is assumed. One fictional mobile bicycle-repair service wants to understand the needs of people who cycle to work within an imagined service area. All case details, competitor cards and response samples are invented for learning. Role-play involves course participants only; no external customer interviews or real customer information are required.

Learning outcomes

Frame a research brief

Draft a decision-focused brief and a segment hypothesis for the fictional service; revise an unsupported assumption after feedback.

Prepare research tools

Compare evidence quality and alternatives, then rewrite interview and survey questions with explicit sample limitations.

Interpret and plan cautiously

Separate fictional observations from implications and draft a next-test plan without claiming market validation.

Eight connected topics

Decision objective and research questions

Start with the decision the entrepreneur needs to inform, rather than a request to prove an idea. In the fictional mobile bicycle-repair case, distinguish the proposed decision about a commuter-focused offer from questions about repair difficulties, current alternatives and preferred arrangements. Write a bounded research brief: intended decision, audience, area, questions, evidence needed and exclusions. Mark what is unknown and what would challenge the initial idea.

Customer segments and needs

Describe possible groups by situation, behaviour and unmet task rather than treating everyone who cycles as the same customer. For the fictional service, contrast commuters with leisure riders and separate the person arranging a repair from the person using the bicycle. Connect a segment hypothesis to a specific difficulty, existing workaround and evidence needed. A persona or classroom segment is a hypothesis, not proof of a real customer group.

Hypotheses and secondary evidence quality

Turn an assumption into a question that could be challenged. Plan a secondary-research log recording source, date, scope, method, relevance and limitations. Compare supplied fictional extracts rather than presenting invented publications as real sources. Separate an observation, a promotional claim and an inference; check whether definitions and geography match the brief. If actual research is undertaken later, seek traceable original material and record conflicting evidence instead of selecting only supportive statements.

Market scope, sizing and demand evidence

Define the service area, eligible people, possible repair occasions and time period before considering a market-size estimate. Outline a bottom-up count structure using named inputs and units, keeping unavailable inputs explicitly unknown. Distinguish total possible need, people the service could reach and observed use; none is automatically demand. A stated interest is not a booking. Do not multiply unsupported assumptions into a headline market figure or turn classroom samples into forecasts. No real market statistics are supplied.

Current competitors and substitutes

Map how the same customer task might be met: a local repair shop, another mobile service, self-repair or postponement. Use unnamed fictional alternative cards to compare access, convenience, service scope, waiting uncertainty and evidence gaps. Distinguish a directly competing offer from a substitute and from choosing not to act. Date any later real observation and separate what is observed from what is inferred. An incomplete comparison cannot establish superiority or absence of competition.

Qualitative interviews and neutral questions

Explain how to explore an experience with open prompts, specific past occasions and neutral follow-ups. Replace “Would you love our convenient service?” with “Tell me about the last time you needed a bicycle repair.” Avoid suggesting an answer, combining questions or treating a role-play as customer discovery. Use voluntary participation, respect confidentiality and collect only necessary information. Classroom demonstration uses internal participant role-play, not external interviews; illustrative notes are not real demand evidence.

Quantitative surveys and sample limitations

Translate a clear question into a short survey item with one idea, a defined period, balanced response options and an appropriate not-applicable option. Explain whom a survey is intended to describe and how respondents might be reached. Distinguish a convenience group from the intended population; discuss missing respondents, wording and self-selection as limitations. A larger fictional sample does not remove these issues. Do not claim statistical confidence, representativeness or population demand from supplied classroom responses.

Analysis, implications and a next-test plan

Group qualitative notes into provisional themes and count response categories with a clear denominator, without hiding missing answers or contradictory accounts. Keep invented case observations separate from interpretations and implications for the offer. For example, a fictional note about repair inconvenience raises a follow-up question, not a sales conclusion. Prepare a conditional next step with one priority hypothesis, proposed method, intended participants, evidence sought, review point and a reason to revise or pause. A proposed test is not a completed validation.

Both formats cover exactly the same eight theoretical topics below. Live training adds six guided activities and facilitated feedback. The proposed self-paced product contains recorded theory, narrated worked examples and a knowledge quiz only. Formation_Niveau.xlsx, Sheet4, row 14 names Etude de Marche and specifies one day, five hours, in person or online; its content cell is blank. The detailed syllabus and separate self-paced product are editorial proposals, not a source-provided programme.

How you learn

Short explanations introduce all eight topics. Six guided activities use the same fictional mobile bicycle-repair service, supplied fictional extracts and response notes. Learners draft, compare in small groups and revise after facilitator feedback. Six blocks total 300 learning minutes, including explanations, activities and debriefs; breaks are extra. Internal role-play is optional within the question-design activity; no external interview or actual market survey is promised.

Research brief — 45 min

Topic 1: 15 minutes of explanation, 20 minutes for activity 1 and 10 minutes of feedback on the decision and questions.

Segment hypothesis — 45 min

Topic 2: 15 minutes of explanation, 20 minutes for activity 2 and 10 minutes of feedback on needs and assumptions.

Evidence quality and scope — 55 min

Topics 3–4: 20 minutes of explanation, 25 minutes for activity 3 and 10 minutes of feedback on evidence limits and sizing inputs.

Competitors and substitutes — 45 min

Topic 5: 15 minutes of explanation, 20 minutes for activity 4 and 10 minutes of feedback on the comparison matrix.

Interview and survey design — 55 min

Topics 6–7: 20 minutes of explanation, 25 minutes for activity 5 and 10 minutes of feedback on neutral wording and sample limitations.

Interpretation and next test — 55 min

Topic 8: 15 minutes of explanation, 25 minutes for activity 6 and 15 minutes of feedback and revision of a conditional next step.

Six guided activities

1 · Define the research brief

For the fictional mobile bicycle-repair service, choose a decision about a commuter-focused offer and draft a brief with audience, imagined area, three research questions, evidence needed and exclusions. Output: a one-page research brief. Compare it with a peer and revise one question after facilitator feedback so it can challenge, not merely confirm, the idea.

2 · Build a segment hypothesis

For the same service, contrast commuters and leisure riders using situation, repair task, possible difficulty and current workaround. Output: a segment/need hypothesis with an unknown and evidence that could contradict it. Explain why a classroom persona is not a verified segment, then refine the hypothesis after guided discussion.

3 · Review secondary evidence

Compare two supplied fictional extracts: a broad cycling-interest statement without a stated method and a narrowly scoped repair-access note with explicit limits. Output: an evidence-quality log covering date, scope, method, relevance and missing information. Define area, people, repair occasions and period for a sizing outline, leaving unavailable inputs unknown. Revise after feedback; do not invent a market total.

4 · Compare alternatives

Use fictional cards for a local repair shop, another mobile service, self-repair and postponement. Output: a competitor/substitute matrix comparing convenience, access, scope, waiting uncertainty and missing evidence for the same commuter task. Mark unknowns rather than awarding unsupported rankings. Discuss one implication and revise the matrix with facilitator feedback.

5 · Rewrite interview and survey questions

Replace the leading prompt “Would you love our convenient service?” with a neutral past-experience prompt. Split a combined convenience-and-booking survey item into separate questions with a defined period and balanced options. Output: a short interview guide, two revised survey items and a note on convenience sampling. Test wording only through internal participant role-play; review voluntary participation, confidentiality and minimal information, then revise after feedback.

6 · Interpret fictional responses and plan

Read three supplied fictional notes: one commuter dislikes transporting a bicycle, another uses a nearby shop, and another has not needed a repair recently. These are invented classroom responses, not a real sample. Output: a theme/contradiction note and a next-test plan naming a priority hypothesis, method, intended participants, evidence sought and review point. Keep missing information visible and revise after feedback; neither the notes nor the plan validate a market.

Delivery and duration

The workbook specifies one day, five hours, in person or online. This live product uses in-person or live-online facilitation: 300 learning minutes with six guided activities and feedback; breaks are additional. Paper notes or equivalent shared documents support the fictional case. No real customer recruitment, external fieldwork, access period or launch date is promised.

Review and feedback

Feedback concerns a decision-focused brief, explicit segment assumptions, source-quality reasoning, an honest alternatives matrix, neutral questions and cautious interpretation. Learners revise selected drafts. Review assesses learning outputs, not a real market report or commercial viability. Fictional responses and role-play provide no market validation or statistical confidence.

People leaning across a small table in a face-to-face discussion at an indoor meeting booth.

Over-the-shoulder view of a person reviewing a colourful planning diagram on a laptop at a shared desk.

People leaning across a small table in a face-to-face discussion at an indoor meeting booth.
