Academic Coaching — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy

Individual coaching

Academic Coaching

Own your study direction. Build a realistic way forward.

For adults in higher education and other adult learning contexts who want to clarify their goals, organise their study commitments and take their own next steps.

For adult learners entering or returning to higher education, navigating an academic transition or looking for a more deliberate approach to independent study.

Where the work can focus

Choose the priorities that fit your situation. These are possible areas of work, not a fixed programme.

Study direction

Explore why a study path matters to you and what you need to understand before deciding whether to continue or change direction.

Independently owned goals

Separate your own intentions from external expectations and define a meaningful goal you can take responsibility for.

Realistic study planning

Map commitments, deadlines and constraints; choose manageable next actions and revise estimates after experience.

Academic transitions

Reflect on the expectations and routines involved in entering, returning to or moving within higher education.

Presentations and participation

Prepare the structure of a presentation, rehearse how to explain your thinking and choose how you want to participate.

Help-seeking and review

Identify the question you need answered, the appropriate academic support contact and a way to review your next step.

Make reflection tangible

Examples of goals and working documents you might develop together. They are starting points, not promised deliverables or guaranteed outcomes.

A study direction reflection

Record your reasons for a study choice, unanswered questions and a next conversation with the appropriate academic contact.

A realistic study commitment map

Bring deadlines and other commitments together, identify a conflict and propose an adjustment within your control.

A presentation-and-support note

Outline your own message, rehearse an opening and prepare a question to ask a tutor or academic support service.

A process that adapts to you

Revisit these stages as your situation changes; they are not a fixed sequence of sessions.

  1. Clarify the situation

Name the decision or challenge, what matters to you, and the constraints you need to respect.

  2. Agree the focus

Choose a client-owned goal, useful signs of progress and the engagement boundaries.

  3. Explore and act

Question assumptions, rehearse a conversation or choose a practical action to try in your context.

  4. Review and adapt

Discuss what happened, revise the working approach, and decide whether to continue, refocus or close.

Agree the engagement before starting

Your decisions, your follow-through

Coaching uses questions, reflection, rehearsal and review to support your own choices. You retain responsibility for decisions and actions. Goals and useful signs of progress are agreed together; outcomes are never guaranteed.

Choose the right kind of support

This is coaching for adult learners’ choices and study practices, not subject tutoring, assignment writing, assessment marking or admissions advice that promises acceptance. You produce and own your academic work and follow your institution’s requirements. The service is not clinical support and does not promise grades, admission or academic success.

Questions before you start

Will the coach teach my subject or write assignments?

No. You remain the author of your work. Subject explanations, assignment requirements and academic feedback belong with the appropriate teaching or academic support service.

Can I use coaching when returning to study as an adult?

Yes. You can explore your reasons for returning, realistic commitments, changed expectations and the support questions you want to raise.

Can we work on a presentation?

Yes. Coaching can support structure, rehearsal and how you want to communicate. You remain responsible for subject accuracy and your institution’s assessment requirements.

What if the main issue needs another kind of support?

Clarify the scope before starting and revisit it if needed. Subject, admissions, accessibility or clinical questions should be directed to an appropriate service; coaching does not replace that support.

Emotional Intelligence — Self-Paced Course — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy · Course

Emotional IntelligenceNotice emotions. Choose a considered response.Self-Paced Course

Study emotions at work through a proposed two hours of recorded theory, worked examples and a knowledge quiz, independently and asynchronously.

In this course, emotional intelligence means exploring how to notice emotions, question interpretations and choose respectful actions at work. The focus is everyday professional situations, not therapy, diagnosis or medical intervention.

Who it is for

For professionals, managers, entrepreneurs and adult learners working with colleagues or clients. No prior knowledge is required. All cases are fictional or anonymised; personal reflection is optional and private, with no required disclosure of experiences or feelings.

Learning outcomes

Explain the distinctions

Recognise facts, feelings, interpretations and actions in narrated examples.

Compare response choices

Identify a considered response, a realistic action and a suitable boundary in fictional scenarios.

Recognise perspective checking

Distinguish empathy from agreement and select respectful feedback or clarification in the knowledge quiz.

Eight connected topics

Understanding emotional intelligence and its limits

Use the course’s practical scope: noticing emotions, considering context and choosing a response. Do not treat an emotion as proof of a fact or a person’s character. This is not a test of intelligence, a diagnosis or a way to rank people.

Emotional awareness and vocabulary

Distinguish a situation, a feeling, an interpretation and an action. Compare words such as disappointed, frustrated, uncertain and relieved, and describe intensity without judging the feeling. Work from fictional accounts rather than requiring personal disclosure.

Triggers, interpretations and assumptions

Examine a fictional trigger such as a terse message or changed deadline. Separate observable events from the story attached to them, list alternative explanations and identify what needs checking. Do not infer motives or emotions from a single cue.

Regulation: responding rather than reacting

Explore a pause, naming the issue, requesting time and choosing wording before answering. Compare when to respond now, return later or seek an appropriate workplace channel. Regulation here means making room for a considered response, not hiding feelings or accepting disrespect.

Motivation and constructive action

Connect a work concern with a priority and a small action within one’s control. Distinguish a useful next step from a demand to feel positive. Consider constraints, support and a review point; motivation is not a promise to remove difficult feelings.

Empathy and perspective checking

Listen, paraphrase and ask whether your understanding fits. Treat another person’s perspective as something to check, not a mind to read. Acknowledging a feeling does not require agreement with a claim, decision or behaviour; maintain appropriate boundaries.

Emotions in feedback and conflict

Prepare a fact-based message, name a concern without blame and invite the other view. Compare responses to feedback, interruptions and disagreement. Discuss a pause, a clear request and follow-up without using emotion language to excuse harmful conduct.

Personal application and boundaries

Choose one modest workplace action and a way to review it, using a fictional plan or optional private reflection. Respect confidentiality and the choice not to share. Distinguish a conversational tool from situations that belong with an appropriate workplace support process.

Both products cover the same eight theoretical topics. Live training adds guided practice and feedback; self-paced learning offers recorded theory, worked examples and a knowledge quiz only.

How you learn

Recorded explanations and worked examples cover the same eight theoretical topics as live training. Four proposed video blocks total 120 minutes. This is asynchronous theory only: no facilitated exercises, role-play, live discussion or individual facilitator feedback. Quiz time, notes and review are additional; personal reflection is optional and private.

Scope and awareness — 30 video min

Topics 1–2: course scope and limits; emotional vocabulary and distinctions between facts, feelings, interpretations and actions.

Triggers and response choices — 30 video min

Topics 3–4: alternative interpretations, checking assumptions, pauses and considered responses in narrated workplace examples.

Action and empathy — 30 video min

Topics 5–6: priorities, controllable next steps and perspective checking without mind reading or assumed agreement.

Feedback and application — 30 video min

Topics 7–8: explained examples of feedback, disagreement, boundaries and a small workplace action plan.

Knowledge quiz — additional time

Concept and fictional scenario questions across all eight topics. Quiz time, note-taking and review are outside the 120 video minutes.

Delivery and duration

Proposed asynchronous format: two hours of recorded theoretical video plus a knowledge quiz requiring additional time. Two hours is not a total completion-time promise. Worked examples explain concepts rather than constitute participant activities or observed practice.

Review and feedback

The quiz checks conceptual understanding and selection of responses in fictional cases. It does not measure emotional intelligence, assess actual workplace performance or provide individual facilitator feedback. No proprietary test or personal score is included.

Another way to learn

Want guided application with others?

Emotional Intelligence — Live Training

One day, five learning hours, in person or live online: the same eight theoretical topics plus six fictional-case activities and facilitated feedback.

Explore live training

Questions before you start

Is the theory the same as live training?

Yes. Both products cover the same eight topics. This version is asynchronous theory only; guided practice and facilitated feedback belong to live training.

Does two hours include the quiz?

No. The proposed two hours cover recorded video. Quiz time, notes and review are additional. It is not a recording of the five-hour practical day.

Will the quiz give me a personal profile?

No. It checks course concepts, not your emotional abilities. There is no proprietary emotional-intelligence test, personal score, diagnosis or requirement to disclose private experiences.

Intelligence émotionnelle — Cours en autonomie — MedSirat Academy

MedSirat Academy · Cours
